It’s full on winter here in case you were wondering. By the way….Telluride, CO. won Best Ski Resort in North America/Canada.

Yep. That’s right #1 in the Conde Nast Traveler Magazine’s Readers Poll. Good thing I live here.

Remember how we established a loooong time ago that bacon makes everything way better?

So does maple syrup.

While I was cooking this we had some backyard pals visit. They were snacking on snowy grass.

It’s always so magical when the elk stop by to say hello.

  1. Those sound fantastic. have you ever tried adding a little Ancho pepper to your maple glaze? The flavor of the rich Ancho and the sweetness of the maple syrup add a depth to the sweet potato.. Just an idea to try..

  2. Thanks so much for including a link to my Thanksgiving Hash! Lucky for us, we have a package of bacon waiting to be used in the fridge so I’ll definitely be trying out your maple roasted sweet potatoes soon…

  3. Marla I will be posting my maple glaze recipe I use for sweet potatoes and pork and turkey later this week.. I think you will like it a lot. Now my pictures will not look any where as wonderful as yours. 🙂

  4. Don’t you just love living in the mountains?!? I do not think I could live anywhere else now that I have lived here for 6 years. This is my very favorite time of year though! GORGEOUS photos!!

And the sweet potatoes look and sound delicious!! I need some good one for tomorrow and these sound pretty perfect!

  5. Marla,
I’m so glad I saved this email to look at later–I’ve got bunches of CSA farm share sweet potatoes (multiple varieties, even) and it’s a challenge to get the kids to try them. The maple-bacon combo (with a pinch of Ancho–that does sound good) is a proven winner with my family. Thanks for the suggestion to keep the skins on–often the farm share sweet potatoes are . . . uniquely shaped and it would be easier to skip peeling. I’ll have to try.
    Thanks!
