Frozen pops are everywhere in magazines and on the web these days. They are a simple treat that can made in a pinch and flavored any way you want them. Not to mention, with homemade pops you can use the freshest ingredients, save on cost and use much less sugar than store bought ones. In our case no sugar is used at all. Vanilla stevia dropsĀ  provide all the sweetness. Sweet as sugar, but none added.

Remember the event Goaterie I told you about a few weeks ago? That was the first time I made a milkshake with goats milk, blueberry sauce and frozen bananas, it was amazing! I made a batch of these pops with goats milk and another with thick greek yogurt. Both were spectacular!

I could have brought some pops to a lovely outing at a friends house in LA, but they would have melted on my 2 hour drive. Anyways I showed up withĀ a giant wheel of cheese. They were happy with that.

You know what was kinda neat about these popsicles…..how the creamier part separated to the bottom and the pumpkin part went to the top. Makes ’em pretty and the great flavor is throughout the whole pop.

Pumpkin Pie Popsicles

Makes 4 popsicles

NOTES:

  • Simply adjust quantities in direct ratios to make more pops. You can keep some mix in the fridge as well for a day if you only have one set of pop molds. Or simply use dixie cups as molds.
  • Use any milk or unsweetened yogurt you have on hand.
  • I used unsweetened canned pumpkin.Ā Food For My FamilyĀ has a greatĀ Homemade Pumpkin PurĆ©eĀ post.

INGREDIENTS

  • 8 ounces of Goats Milk, fat free Greek Yogurt, unsweetened Coconut Milk or any Vegan milk you desire
  • 3 ounces unsweetened Pumpkin PurĆ©e
  • 1/2 dropper full of Vanilla Stevia Drops, Honey or Maple Syrup to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • pinch of fine Sea Salt

METHOD

In a bowl mix together all ingredients well. Add sweetener to taste. Pour into popsicle molds or dixie cups with about 1/4 inch room at the top. Lay a sheet of foil on top of the pop mild and poke sticks through. Freeze for about 2 hours or until frozen solid. Gently remove pops from molds.

  1. I’ve been incorporating organic into my summer choices by buying as much produce as possible from a local farm that’s just about 4 houses down from my parents’ house!

  2. This morning when I woke up it was nice and cool outside (I live in NH) and I was thinking of fall… I started to crave apple and pumpkin pie. But it is not quite that time of year yet! So this will be a great recipe for me to try to get that “fall” craving under control on a summer day! And they look awesome!!

  3. What a neat idea – pumpkin pie flavors in a summertime treat. My kids love these warm spices so I think they would really enjoy your popsicles. I’ve been making fruit Popsicles this summer – kiwi pops and “firecracker” pops using POM blueberry juice, lemonade and black cherry juice.

  4. My favorite pop just might be this little guy. I’m a pumpkin junkie too and I have to give this recipe a try! The hubby and kid don’t like pumpkin so these will be mine, all mine! šŸ˜‰

    1. Paula….how about using a sweet potato mash instead? Or you can buy a whole pumpkin, roast it and purĆ©e the flesh too. I know that is a bit more work than buying a can but the flavor would be better. Check out this link from Food For My Family about homemade pumpkin purĆ©e Might be helpful :).

  5. Pumpkin Pie Popsicles, this is a new one on me, but as we both love pumpkin I will be sure to give this a try as soon as my pumpkins are ready in the garden. Diane

    1. Diane “pumpkin ready in your garden?!” You lucky gal you. I want pumpkin growing in my garden too….problem is my complete lack of gardening skills!

  6. First off, I love your photos! My goodness. They seem to get better and better every day. Such a neat idea putting pumpkin in a popsicle!
My favorite pop would have to be… creamsicles! We make a pretty good recipe at home for them. I used to love those cyclone popsicles as a kid… until I became a nutritionist, read the label, and promised myself I’d never have one again. Blah! So many garbage ingredients!

  7. my favorite popsicle would be banana, PB, and chocolate chip one that my toddlers (2 and 3) help me make. so yummy

  8. It’s pretty much organic all the way in our house. Tom’s has been a favorite for over 12 years, I have been using Dr. Hauschka since 1984, when I experienced an ALL Dr. H facial…it’s in my medicine cabinet now. I love their oils and serums! Pumpkin all year long is my motto as well, Marla!

    1. Susan, I remember the first time I discovered Dr.H too. Awesome products! They smell beautiful and work magic on the skin. Glad to hear you love pumpkin as much as we do šŸ™‚

  9. Pumpkin is up there in my top tier of favorite flavors. I almost can’t wait for fall so I can use it again, except now I don’t have to! I will just make these gorgeous popsicles!

  10. These pops sound delicious! I got a new ice cream maker, so I have been experimenting a lot with that; my favorite so far is raspberry dark chocolate fro yo. I have also been loving some nice banana/peanut butter/cocoa pops lately- such a healthy, cool treat for the summer!

  11. I am just like you when it comes to loving pumpkin year round! I made some pumpkin frozen yogurt which reminds me a lot of these šŸ™‚

  12. I’m trying to buy organic as long as the price is right. I know organic’s the right way to go, but sometimes I can’t justify the extra expense. We live on a pretty tight budget.

    1. I know the feeling Suzanne. Don’t pressure yourself. Buy what you can organic – in season fruits and veggies are always the best tasting and priced. Try not to feel guilty when you gotta take a pass ’cause of cost.

  13. Eating organic foods means a lot to me. It means I’m nourishing my body, not poisoning it.

    katherinedibello (at) gmail (dot) com

  14. My favorite pops would be orange or watermelon. Of course fudge pops are bad either šŸ˜‰

To me, organic means healthful, balanced, life and energy-giving, and wholesome!

    1. Lucy, it was a wonderland spending time in your beautiful garden. Thanks so much for having us all there. Such a fun day! I will certainly be getting you a copy of that photo.

  15. Yummy. Pumpkin is one of my all time favorites. A watermelon and any kind of berry combination would be my favorite. They are so easy to make and the perfect summertime snack. Love seeing the pictures of the kids. Miss them and you!

  16. I adore pumpkin! We grow our own pumpkins, so organic is just a way of life for us! As well as a full garden, we LOVE it.
My favorite pop is a Marion Berry, Basil & Lemonade pop!
    I like on Facebook.

  17. I’m thinking that this one may BECOME my favorite – but until I make it, we’ll go with chocolate (Blue Bunny Sweet Freedom).

  18. Marla, that’s so cute how they became “two-tone” popsicles — like pumpkin pie with whipped cream, only healthier. Thanks for all of your creative ideas!

  19. The local farmers market has a nice vendor who always has some organic coffee/fudge pops. Since the first time I had one, two things have changed. First, I make sure to go there every week during the summer. Second, my idea of organic has changed, and I’m obsessed with it.

  20. What a great idea! Fall is my ALL-TIME favorite season of the year. I’m so ready for it, but I just can’t bring myself to make all of the warm Fall desserts. These are the perfect compromise! As for favorite popsicle, I love fudgy chocolate popsicles. šŸ™‚ Yum!

  21. These pops are so pretty, Marla! Such a cute idea…we really are on the same wavelength. Yesterday was a real scorcher and I was eating a coconut popsicle and wishing for fall to arrive…I started thinking about the holidays and the idea of an eggnog popsicle came to mind! I think I’ll give these pumpkin pie pops a try first though! šŸ™‚

  22. These popsicles look absolutely delicious. I’ve been craving pumpkin and just like you, my favorite time of the year is fall (more-so than winter). I’ve also been looking for another ice pop recipe.

My favorite summer ice pop is a “root beer float”. All you do is open a can of root beer and allow is to set at room temperature until it gets flat. After it is flat – pour a bit into an ice pop mold. Put in the freezer for about 30 minutes until it is partially frozen. Then, take greek yogurt and put a tiny layer of yogurt in the ice pop mold. Repeat the layering process until your mold is filled.

  23. i’m not too picky when it comes to my popsicles… i just want some yummy fruit and i want it to be extra cold!! i live in some serious heat territory so one in each hand might work out better šŸ˜‰

  24. We love mixing yogurt and any fruits for yummy summer popsicle. Will be trying your pumpkin ones….sound wonderful!

  25. My favorite popsicle to make is creamy strawberry! Blend greek yogurt, honey and frozen strawberries together. Place in molds and freeze! The kids love these!

  26. Woah! I don’t eat that many popsicles but am going to be making these for sure! Otherwise, I like a frozen banana “pop” dipped in a little dark chocolate. šŸ™‚

  27. I love making chocolate pudding pops. My favorite organic foods in the summer are found in my backyard.

  28. I’m not entering, I just wanted to say, I think this is genius. We’re all ready for fall…but I think it will be awhile…here’s a cold pumpkin spice latte! Grinning ear to ear!

  29. Watermelon slushies…. no popsicles since I don’t have the molds. Trying to eat more organic because I’m convinced the processed foods and pesticides are contributing to the rise in illnesses and diseases.

  30. Favorite popsicle would have to be anything coconut- like the real fruit kind from Whole Foods- yum! But, I am a serious pumpkin lover and will be going out to buy molds just to make these. I try to feed my family as much organic as possible, summer is wonderful because we hit up the farmer’s markets to get local organic goods that are so fresh, plus the kids love being involved in the choosing and seeing the farmers (and the animals they bring :).

  31. I like chocolate popsicles. Or anything creamy, but not so much the icy fruit ones. I love fruit, but when it’s frozen on a stick I usually just want chocolate.

  32. I think your pumpkin pops are my new favorite. I love Pumpkin all year long too. I even took pumpkin-craisin muffins to the beach back in June.

  33. Right now, organic means all the fresh veggies I am picking out of my own garden. I am drowning in tomatoes and loving it.
These popsicles look so, so good. And I have that same blue patterned fabric that I use for props šŸ˜‰

  34. I love any popsicle with lime in it! We buy most of our produce from local famer’s market and our beef from the guy down the road…so much better than the store

  35. Those look like easy and great little popsicles! What a delicious idea! My favorite popsicles are the classic chocolate and vanilla pudding swirls!

  36. It would be nice if you would include all nutritional information with your diet recipes…….Notes like how many mg.Sodium, g.Fat, g. Protein, and calories too. Many dieters will make their decisions about new recipes to try from thise basic but very important factors!
