Compound butters are simple to prepare & you can flavor them in so many ways.
I highly recommend you try all sorts of sweet & savory ingredients to see what you like.

16 ounces (2 sticks) salted butter
1/2 cup frozen & thawed blueberries
 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
a few drops of alcohol free maple extract

Soften butter to room temperature. Let blueberries drain in a strainer. In a bowl mix together the butter, blueberries, maple syrup & maple extract. Sweeten to taste with more maple if desired.

You can serve this butter in a ramekin, store in the fridge. You can also make a log by rolling it in wax paper & slicing off pieces as you need it. Let the butter harden in the fridge for 2 hours to overnight.

Why frozen blueberries? I love their vibrant color in this butter. You can use fresh if you wish.
