Spring Bouquet Popsicles

I must tell you a little bit about how this flowers in popsicles thing happened. I was driving my kids to school and I said “mommy wants to make popsicles, what flavors can you pleeeease dream up for me?” Before I knew it delightful + tantalizing ideas were dancing around. All of a sudden my daughter screamed out FLOWER POPSICLES!!

And that is how this all happened. Since this recipe was posted here on MM, it has been featured in all kinds of magazines around the world, an extra special treat!

I often dream up wild ideas for popsicles. You guys have been huge fans of my Lemonade Cucumber Spa Pops. Those make you feel like you are at the spa even when you are not. My Spring Bouquet Pops can whisk you away to a fancy shower, tea party or wedding…even if you are at work in your photo studio 12 hours a day!

They would be a fun and surprising treat served at a bridal or baby shower. You can customize the colors of the flowers to suit the color theme of your party.

Do you think a bride could walk down the aisle holding a bouquet of popsicle flowers? Perhaps…if she doesn’t mind them dripping on her wedding gown…

You can also write sweet little messages on the popsicle sticks. Like this…

Just be sure whatever flowers you use are indeed edible and organic.

I used these Star Ice Pop molds. In case you want the same ones. What flavor are these pops? I flavored them with orange blossom water and sweetened them with my stevia drops, but you can also use honey, agave or simple syrup.

And WOW at all the photographs specially the one with your little girl holding the popsicles in B&W. gorgeous all the way! 🙂

    1. Alisha, they are organic edible flowers that I got at Whole Foods ~ I do not know the exact varieties. They have a very mild floral flavor and pair very well with the orange blossom water.

  8. These are the most gorgeous popsicles I have ever seen. Such a beautiful idea for summer! And another good reason to try edible flowers!!

  11. I’m so impressed with these popsicles – simple, elegant, and yet rustic. I’ve never seen flowers used this way before, so thank you for the inspiration. I am featuring this post in today’s Friday Food Fetish roundup (with a link-back and attribution), but please let me know if you have any objections. It’s a pleasure to be following your creations…

  12. Amazing. Genius. Breathtaking. Innovative. Stunning. Gorgeous. Inspiring. Beautiful. I’m in l-o-v-e. Thank you so much for sharing your fabulous creation! I am really wowed by this one!

  13. I don’t think I’ve ever referred to popsicles as “lovely” before, but these are exactly that! The flowers make them look so elegant and summery. Love it!

  14. Those are just gorgeous! What a beautiful idea, and yes, they’d be perfect for a wedding or a bridal shower. Thanks for sharing!

  15. What a great and gorgeous idea. However, be sure to research flowers for edibility before using – or photographing them. Unfortunately, the flowers highlighted here are Ranunculus (from your daughter holding a bouquet to decorating the popsicle stand). ALL PARTS OF RANUNCULUS, INCLUDING THE FLOWER, ARE POISONOUS. Although calendula petals are edible (used as a saffron substitute), you don’t eat the whole flower.

I wrote “Edible Flowers from Garden to Palate” back in 1993, but it is still considered the best reference (and cookbookj) on edible flowers by gardeners and chefs alike. If anyone is interested in an updated list of flowers, which includes common and botanical names, and description of flavor, email bloominggourmet@mchsi.com for a copy. There are more than 80 flowers on the list, and it is regularly updated.

  16. These look awesome and delicious! I love how colorful they are while still keeping an elegance and simplicity. Such a great idea.

  17. I made these for the 4th of July and my daughter and sister loved them. They have a light fragrant orange blossom taste. I did substitute sugar instead of stevia drops and they were still sweet and lovely. They were all very impressed with the beauty of the popsicles

  18. Oh FYI, I got the edible flowers from Whole Foods in the section that carries fresh
    rosemary and thyme herbs
