Here in Telluride, Colorado we are known for lots of wonderful things. Stunning Rocky mountain views, world class skiing, fly fishing, hiking, phenomenal cuisine, the best people, outrageous festivals…the list goes on & on.

One of our most treasured and favored festivals by locals & tourists alike is Telluride Blues & Brews Festival, which takes place in September every year…

Our spring/summer festival season kicks off every year with MountainFilm.

From there on out we have a festival mostly every weekend with the grand finale being this one.

Telluride Blues & Brews is a fine mix of rockin’ musical talent, super happy festival goers and world renowned beer tasting.

They say it’s one of the most scenic & intimate musical festivals in the country & I’ve gotta agree with that!

It’s a funny time of year with the weather. It can be perfectly dry or it can rain.

It sure was sunny on Friday. Then the weather did the typical mountain twist and changed ~ that’s the amazing drama here at virtually 8,750 feet. You just roll with it.

It rained lots. But thats OK. Just makes the dancing more fun.

But the thing is here in Telluride we don’t just get rainbows...we get double rainbows

Which thankfully only added to the thrills and excitement of the weekend.

We also get dancing fairies…

Brews: The grand tasting is a favorite for many. We were all overjoyed that our down home Telluride Brewing Company took home awards.

If you plan on visiting us next year for Blues & Brews, do not hesitate to bring your children. Mine had a blast! There were so many things for them to do & they were never far from us at all. They enjoyed the Rainbow Kids Area.

  1. Your experience at the Telluride Blues Brews Festival looks like our experience at the New Orleans Jazz Fest. There were plenty of colorful rain boots as there too. Except that NO’s Jazz Fest is held on the grounds of a race track. You can imagine the smells that a day of torrential rains and millions of stomping feet on top of horse pastures can brew up? It definitely was an experience to remember. I love Melissa Etheridge. Can anyone belt it like Chris Robinson? Man, he’s got a voice. I’ve only hear a little of Jim James but will definitely be checking him out some more now. Thanks so much for sharing about your experience – love the photos!

    1. Hi Marly! OMG ~ your experience in NO sounds like it was very memorable. For many reasons 😉 Thankfully no horses run in our Town Park where the festival is held….Funny story!

  2. I have always been a Melissa E fan, since h.s.! I have seen her once live, probably almost 17-20 years ago (wow that makes me sound so old!) but she’s one of a kind and amazing! The images you got of her are stunning!
