Vegan Chocolate + Cherry Ice Cream

Chocolate Cherry Ice Cream recipe on MarlaMeridith.com blog IMG 7715

I have been reading about vegan ice creams made from coconut milk for quite some time. I recently jumped on the bandwagon encouraged by the fabulous Alice Currah from SavorySweetLife.com. In her new cookbook SAVORY SWEET LIFE: 100 Simply Delicious Recipes for Every Family Occasion she has a recipe for Chocolate Cookies ‘n’ Cream “Ice Cream. ”

I gasped and reached for my coconut milk as soon as I flipped the page and saw this recipe.

That there is the book cover. Are those chicken kebabs tempting or what?!

I knew immediatly this ice cream was going to be the recipe I had to try first.

Forgive me. The ice cream you are enjoying is quickly melting. Between a combination of jet lag and 2 little kids reaching for this ice cream I got a bit side tracked.

My Chocolate + Cherry Ice Cream quickly became a float! I was still crazy tasty. Frozen or not. Just sip it with a straw if this happens to you.

I made my usual adaptations ~ instead of Oreo cookies (which sound wonderful by the way) I added fresh summer cherries. And a generous dollop of my Homemade Coconut Whipped Cream (which is vegan too.)

By the way….have I shared how I am obsessed with cherry blossoms? I am.

My version of this ice cream is also sugar free. That will help free up your waistline for summer pool play dates.

The book has only been out 2 weeks and you can see all the top notch press it has all ready been receiving.

  1. I found your recipe for pumpkin vanilla applesauce; that sounds seriously yummy! Actually, all of your pumpkin recipes sounded delicious! 🙂 I did leve a comment on the applesauce recipe, too.

  2. This cookbook looks fabulous! And, the melting ice cream? Divine! My favorite flavor is English Toffee, but, sadly, I can never find it anywhere….Guess I need to make my own 🙂

    1. By the way…I receive your email updates and would like to be considered for the free cookbook. Love mint chocolate chip.

  3. I’m so excited that I have all of the ingredients for this- popping the coconut milk in the fridge tonight and whipping this up tomorrow!

And my favorite flavor? The flavor du jour is probably salted caramel. Yum.

  5. You are crazy if you think I can only pick one favorite kind of ice cream 🙂 I lovvveee ice cream and a few faves are anything chocolate, strawberry, vanilla bean, brown cow, homemade vanilla pumpkin. Chocolate + cherry is an amazing combo, so I can imagine how delicious this is!

  6. My favorite ice cream is Moose Tracks! I love the fudge swirl and the peanut butter cups it has in it!

  7. I navigated to this recipe for obvious reasons, and had not idea there was a give-away attached. But with that said, I’m happy to tell you that my favorite flavor of ice cream is? Wait for it…All of the above!

I seriously have not found a flavor I do not like. I even like green tea ice cream! Vegan, of course. But this Chocolate Cherry may be my favorite of the month. I’m meeting up with family soon and I happen to have some frozen cherries (from my own tree) on-hand, so I think I see this happening in my very near future. Thanks for the inspiration and for sharing about Alice’s book. It looks amazing!

  8. I found your recipe for cheesy bacon spaghetti squash casserole and would love to try that one! I commented on the post!
