Howdy! A year & a half ago I bid on a very special vacation to benefit the Telluride Adaptive Sports Program. I had heard about the 4UR Ranch in Creede, Colorado for sometime & I was so excited to bid on & win this trip! Any way I can help our educational ski programs I do. Any way I can go on a great vacation I’m in! Let’s start at the very beginning…. This summer all of my travel has been road tripping through Colorado. I LOVE my home state & I was thrilled not to have to get on any airplanes! Creede, CO is absolutely gorgeous! My hubs was such a rock star watching my kids when I had work away from home that I gave him a break & took my 2 kiddos to the ranch solo. They missed daddy but loved time with me & the new pals they met in the ranch Kid’s Program. Staying at 4UR was laid back, relaxed & very pampering. All of our gourmet meals were included… (phew! It was sooooo nice not to cook for 3 days) What you see here is a cowboy brunch…they have a trail ride up to the brunch. I’m crazy for this blue speckled enamelware! At 6am they leave coffee outside our cabins every morning… The cowboy brunch was true rustic comfort food prepared expertly! Sausage, biscuits & gravy, fruit salad, cheesy egg scramble & baked oatmeal are featured on my plate… These carrot muffins were to die for! Fresh fruit salad is always a win! Breakfast, lunch & dinner are served in the main lodge. This is the only part of the ranch you can get wi-fi & make phone calls. It was nice to have limited access to technology…otherwise I might have lost some of the ranch experience. It was awesome to keep the focus on my kids, the outdoors and other guests. The staff was so lovely & personable. The horse wranglers were very professional & had us feeling safe & well educated about riding. 4UR keeps you on the same horse every day of your trip so riders & animals get to know each other well. This is very important for kids & adults alike. There were sweet animals everywhere & we fell in love with all of them… All had lots of personality! Look at the little hearts on this goats knees… Cats frolic in dark barn corners… I brought my gun & was able to shoot some clay pigeons (great practice for pheasant hunting this fall.) 4UR has both sporting clays course & trap shooting range. Great for novice or pro shooters! Fly fishing is amazing in the local waters. There are trophy ponds, wilderness lakes & both sides of the legendary Rio Grande River. Goose Creek is one of only a few entirely private tailwater trout streams in the American West. I went out with a guide (Aaron, also the property manager with his wife Robin) as I’m new to fishing. Fishing with a  seasoned pro is the way to go if you are a newbie! We caught a few beautiful rainbows. Astute stream management and rigorous catch and release practices have made the 4UR truly special. 20+ inch trout are landed almost every week. Because I loved our trip so much we are booking an entire week next year, we were there for a long weekend this trip. If you plan on visiting 4UR be sure to call asap.
