Such a fabulous collection has a wonderful history! Here’s a bit more about Johnny Was…
Johnny Was was founded by their Creative Director, Eli Levite, in 1987. At the time, his children loved the song “Johnny Was a Good Man” by Bob Marley, and that’s where their name came from! After 20+ successful years in the wholesale industry, Eli decided he wanted to bring the Johnny Was aesthetic to life and really share his vision for the “Johnny Was Lifestyle” with his customers.
So, they opened our first flagship store in Santa Monica in 2010. Today, we have 13 stores nationwide and are working to open more every year (hopefully Colorado soon!).
They have 6 separate lines under the Johnny Was umbrella, each designed to address a different facet of the Johnny Was Woman’s life. Although the lines each have a distinct aesthetic, the attention to detail and unique look of each piece is what brings them all together. All of their prints are either designed i$250.n their Los Angeles studio, or created exclusively for them by artists.
All of their embroideries are designed by their in-house designers. Silhouettes are classic, timeless, and easy to wear. Their goal is to create beautiful, unique pieces that their customers will treasure for years and years to come!
I wear my JW all the time, their styles are super simple to layer, mix and match and add to pieces you all ready have in your closet!

I’m a huge fan of there stuff. In fact I’ve been wearing Johnny Was since 2000. It’s great to see their stuff is now more widely available.
