The Chia Cookbook by Janie Hoffman, founder of Mamma Chia. The recipes in this cookbook are super creative, simple to prepare & simply divine. Not to mention they all incorporate chia…this Chia-Berry Shake is a new family favorite as are many of her recipes! Do you know much about chia? These tiny little seeds are packed with the richest plant based source Omega-3’s. They are an excellent source of dietary fiber, protein & antioxidants too. This was the beloved ancient grain of the Mayans & Aztecs, held in great esteem for ability for increasing vitality & strength. That’s exciting for them & us. I’m really happy that our modern day culture has rediscovered chia! Within the pages of The Chia Cookbook you will learn the basics of how to incorporate chia into your daily meals. There are recipes for every meal of the day. Janie’s enthusiasm & ease of style throughout the book will have you cooking with chia right away. It’s now going to become a part of my families daily meals. Janie Hoffman is so in love with this plant based nutrient that she put her all into developing a bountiful line of certified organic drinks & chia seeds (black & white varieties) to make sure we get our daily chia. There are many fruity flavors to choose from. Pictured below are Mamma Chia Vitality Beverages (the glass bottles) & kid friendly Chia Squeeze Vitality Snacks. This chia berry shake is great for breakfast & mini meals. All you need to do is soak Mamma Chia Bagged Chia Seeds in water (white or black) and blend with frozen berries (any kind) a pinch of ground cardamom, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract & 1/2 an avocado. I also added some fresh lime juice for zing. Here are some of my favorite recipes in The Chia Cookbook:

I use chia seeds all of the time in smoothies – usually 1 tablespoon. You can’t taste it but it definitely makes the smoothie more filling.
It’s true ~ I could not taste it in these shakes either. I could hardly see the chia too once it was blended. A genius way to thicken ~ I agree!
no i have never cooked with chia seeds, but look forward to learning! i have had it in a smoothie or tea once quite a long time ago. thanks 🙂
I have cooked with chia before. I have used it as an egg substitute, thrown it in my smoothies, and added it to granola, but it has been a while since I did any of those. Thanks for the reminder to use it again.
I must try chia in granola too ~ great idea!
