This week I took a staycation with my kids only 45 minutes from Telluride at the Chipeta Solar Springs Resort. Located in the gorgeous historic mountain town of Ridgway, CO. We felt far from home….but right at home all at the same time!

From the very moment the Chipeta Solar Springs Resort reached out to me via Instagram (gotta love Insta) we made a connection that I knew would last! This Southwest boutique lodge has everything I love in a resort. It’s super styling, quaint, killer views, excellent personable service (I made lots of new friends with the staff), very comfortable and the food & drink is top notch!
The resort has full views of the Cimmarron & San Juan Mountain ranges. You can stay at Chipeta, enjoy all the resort offerings and take day trips to Telluride, Silverton & Ouray (the closest historic mining town) This mountain girl was in heaven! I totally fell in LOVE with the teepee..
The lodge has a very relaxing & soothing vibe. Chipeta has two solar heated thermal salt water pools, both located in the central outdoor courtyard of the resort. My kids loved the lap pool & I soaked in the Roman Bath as often as I could. We stayed in the well appointed Crow Canyon room with our own hot tub for even more soaking!
The Four Corners Cafe is the resorts dining spot. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast & some of the dinner offerings as well. I recommend the Smothered Breakfast Burrito & Southwest Eggs Benedict for breakfast or brunch.
For dinner, we enjoyed every bite of the Mussels with Chorizo, Puled Pork Flatbread and Steak with Ancho Chili Mash, Mushroom Confit & a Chimichurri Sauce. Next visit I’m trying the Seared Ahi Tuna Salad which I hear is out of this world. For libations, the Chipeta Margarita is a special treat & the wine list is varied & wonderful as well.
This flatbread with goat cheese, peaches & pulled pork was divine!
Aren’t those colors in the steak dish gorgoeus?! The flavors even better. All ingredients are locally sourced when available.
The Chipeta is also a great place for weddings and conferences. They have the Kiva Conference Center which is both rustic & a super functional space for all kinds of events! Catering is done on the premises by Chef Nick Mozealous, who made the delicious dishes above.
You must check out the rooftop Skybar…talk about views! These were spectacular. You can order drinks and appetizers up there.
For kicks I took the kids over to Ouray (only 15 minutes from the lodge by car) It was a bright sunny day, we took the tops down in my Jeep & loved on the fresh air and views. They love the Ouray Hot Springs, so we spent some time there & had lunch at the Ouray Brewing Company
After all the fun in the sun I was welcomed back to the lodge with a gorgeous therapeutic massage in their wonderful spa with Joanna. It was blissful relaxation. There are occasional yoga classes offered in the spa too. Check with the front desk for those. There is also a fitness center to work with weights or on machines at your discretion.
We also enjoyed the town of Ridgway. I love this community of great people, awesome restaurants and more epic mountain views!
I’m happy that Chipeta is located so close to my home, this means we can visit often!
