I’ve made an executive decision around here. What is it?ย Now thatย designing cocktails is my new favorite thing to do (ahem, mixologist wanna be) I’m going to create a series of cocktails named after Telluride ski runs. And by the way there are a lot of ski runs! ย Here’s No. 1… This Misty Maiden Martini is a creamy, sweet combo of Nocello, dreamy Bailey’s and half & half. Yep.ย Tis the season for all things alpine and errrr….libations! I shot these photos moments before I had to pick up my son from school & seconds before a huge snow storm arrived! It’s been dumping beautiful white stuff and that make us super excited to open the ski mountain in just 2 weeks ~ thank goodness I did a snow dance this morning. On my way home from Denver airport the other day (yes, I’m back from London & it was super!) I stopped into a giant liquor store to poke around. I found this Nocello walnut & hazelnut liqueur & got so excited to take it home for a test drive! I know we all LOVE Baileys Irish Cream all ready. This cocktail is the perfect marriage of the two…. The nutty flavor with the chocolate is beyond fabulous! So what’s the story with Misty Maiden? It’s an intermediate ski run here in Telluride, CO. It’s easily accessed off of the main chairlift #4. It’s a super fun & fast run if you want it to be, or slower if that’s your thing. Along the way you will come across Gorrono Ranch restaurant & theย adorable Outpost Bar. Gorronoย is a historic Basque sheep herding ranch… On Christmas Eve there’s the Torchlight Parade down Misty Maiden. That’s when instructors from the Telluride Ski & Snowboard School and Ski Patrollers ski down Misty Maiden in the darkย with flares. Such a great way toย ring in the Christmas spirit. I think when they are done they need these martinis! I think you might need to whip these up asap for happy hour. Enjoy! [amd-zlrecipe-recipe:455] Creamy Martini Recipes toย Love! coming soon!]]>

Beautiful Marla!!
You could totally do the whole mixology stylist thing as your second job – you do such a good job at it! It’s 5 o’clock somewhere, right? Cause I’m seriously needing one of these now!
Ha! Yes, thankfully it’s always 5pm somewhere ๐ Thanks for your sweet compliments Julie. This mixology stuff really excites me!!! xxoo

Awesome Anna! Hopefully you were able to try one or two this weekend ๐
Marla I love this idea for your cocktail series! It’s genius. Can’t wait to follow along.
That Nocello sounds yummy and might go great in a chocolate desert. Telluride is one of my favorite summer destinations and we do try to visit at least once every summer. I’m glad I just stumbled onto your blog and look forward to more recipes and photos from Colorado.
I’ve never been skiing but even so I’m all about the aprรจs. This looks like a classy and tasty way to enjoy it.
I sent out a plea for snow in Oregon for my trip home in December- and then it snowed a foot at my parents’ place a few days later! Excited to get to see winter, and be chilly and cozy. Excited to drink some spanish coffee! This cocktail looks amazing- a good one to break out here in Malaysia.
Mmmmmmmm. Spanish Coffee sounds wonderful! I hope you do get the snow this year. I can imagine how much you miss it! x
We just got our first snow here too so I’m definitely craving all things wintery now. ๐ These martinis are seriously SO gorgeous!
