Double Chocolate Buttermilk Muffins

 1 cup buttermilk
 1/2 cup (4 tbsp) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
 1/2 cup granulated sugar
 1/4 cup light brown sugar
 2 large eggs
 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
 1/2 teaspoon salt
 1 teaspoon baking soda
 2 teaspoons baking powder
 1/2 cup cocoa powder
 2 cups all-purpose flour
 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

Prepare a muffin pan with paper liners. Preheat oven to 350 F.

In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, melted butter with the sugars, eggs, and vanilla.

In another bowl whisk together the salt, soda, baking powder, cocoa powder and flour.

Add the dry to the wet in a few additions and mix well. Fold in the chocolate chips.

Fill muffin cups about 2/3 full. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out virtually crumb free.
