Fields of Flowers and Happy Mother’s Day

Beautiful Ranunculus flowers in California

We all have moms, had moms, are moms. This post is for all of you. Anyone who wants to gaze upon beautiful flowers and happy kids. I am a proud mom who loves her momma and her kids. Oh happy days. I wish you all a beautiful Mother’s day filled with love, peace, joy, sunshine and flowers.

Recently my kids were off from school and I took them on a field trip to the Carlsbad Flower Fields. Each spring the fields come alive with beautiful rainbow hued Ranunculus flowers.

The colors were dazzling and the air was hot. Everything was in full bloom!

The kids loved the sweet pea maze. Giggles, chuckles and squeals were the theme of the day.

Being outside together enjoying the sun and flower fields is something I will never forget. My kids keep talking about it too. I think it is firmly implanted in their minds forever. We constantly remind each other it is not the “stuff” we have in our possessions. It is the memories that last.

A tractor ride around the fields was a great way to catch a cool breeze.

They call this the “Fields of Dreams” and I can certainly agree with that!

    1. Picky Eater, I had been to coffee the week before with my friend Averie and could not get over the flower fields I saw in the distance. I had never seen them before – headed back a few days later with my kids to get the close up. Yes, every bit as breath taking as they look. We will go back each year to savor the Spring flowers. Happy Mother’s day to you too!

  1. Wow, truly amazing!!! I miss those kids of yours (and you too)!! Please give them a hug for me. I always wanted to go there. I have been fascinated with the many paintings I have seen in laguna of those beautiful Carlsbad flower fields. Your pictures are gorgeous! I wish I was there, I would have definitely gone with you. Happy Mothers Day to you too my beautiful, amazing friend!

    1. Hi Andrea!! So glad you stopped by to say hi. We miss you guys too. Some day you need to work out a trip back to CA with the kids when the flowers are in bloom. Are you visiting this June?

  2. Okay, now I have GOT to go here before we move to Texas from Los Angeles in three short weeks! Striking images, Marla, and such beautiful children. Happy Mother’s Day to you! Lord knows you deserve to be the queen for a day! 🙂

    1. Georgia, this might come as great news for you. I just read that the flower fields extended their viewing season to May 15th. I hope you can make your way there before you leave CA. If not now then hopefully when you come back to visit 🙂 xo
Thanks for your sweet compliments on my kids.

  3. What a carefree, lovely post this is, Marla! The flower fields are stunning and I’m glad you and the kiddos had so much fun…wishing you a very Happy Mother’s Day, sweetie!

  5. Oh man how beautiful!! I really want to take my parents here but I realized that the season ends at May 15th (I checked the site). boo hoo…but honestly, I think a mother’s love is more beautiful and wonderful than any gorgeous flower in the world. 🙂

    Happy Mother’s Day, Marla!

    1. Sophia, auch a awesome surprise to have a visit from you! Hope all is wonderful, I will be checking in at your blog now. Hopefully next year you can plan to bring your folks to see the flowers. You will all LOVE ’em. Have a great weekend!

    1. Dara, happy Mother’s Day to you too! I am so happy we have become such great friends. It was wonderful catching up face to face at Camp Blogaway last weekend. I look froward to seeing you in Utah in July. xo

  6. Marla, what can I say to anything that beautiful. I love the field of colors. Thanks for being a loving Mother to my darling grandchildren. They are very lucky to have a Mom like you. Happy Mother’s Day! Judy

    1. Hello there Judy my beautiful mother-in-law. Wish we could celebrate Mother’s Day with you this year. The kids miss you bunches. You guys will need lots of phone time this weekend. Glad you like these photos of them at the Flower Fields. We need to take you there next year, OK? Wishing you the BEST Mother’s Day 🙂 xo

    1. Better mommy?? I think not. You are a rockstar mom & don’t you ever forget that. I could not resist getting a close up of the flowers. Knew if I waited too long they would be gone.
I told the kids we were going on a surprise field trip. They were hoping for Disneyland. Thankfully they fell in love with the flowers! Have a wonderful Mother’s Day!

    1. Angie you are too kind. Wish I felt like “super mom” perhaps if I keep chanting those words it will come true 😉 Have a beautiful weekend & Mother’s Day. xo

  7. These photos are wonderful. I can’t get over the beauty of all these flowers! That first photo of your daughter is gorgeous! Your kids are as beautiful as their mommy. I wish you a Happy Mother’s Day, Marla. xo

    1. Lora, *blush* thanks for the super sweet words. Happy Mother’s Day to you too my friend. Enjoy your darling kiddos today 🙂 xo

  8. Marla, your pictures are just breathtaking! I love all the flowers and the pictures of your kids. They are just adorable! I hope your Mother’s Day was wonderful and delicious! 🙂

  9. Gorgeous pictures Marla! I was just there yesterday and while the flowers are definitely past peak now we still had fun wandering around. I hope you tried the lavender strawberry sundaes and jalepeno strawberry sundaes they serve over by Armstrong Garden Center! Sooo amazing. 😀

    1. Lauren, so glad you made it over to the flower fields. I did not see those sundaes but they sound amazing. Lavender strawberry is such a unique combo, then again so is the jalapeno strawberry. I will not forget to try them when I go back next year. Sounds like the best time to catch the flowers in their peak is the end of April – then again that could change year to year couldn’t it!
