Kebab week is here for Get Grillin.‘ Cookin’ Canuck and I are bringing delicious grilled kebabs to this weeks virtual BBQ. I grilled up these Chicken Skewers with Roasted Pepper Dip. They are simple, quick and satisfying. What are you bringing to our link up party? Any type of kebab will do. Remember, you don’t need to create a new recipe. We just want you to join in on the fun with anything you’ve got. Our sponsor Rösle this week has an amazing set of grilling utensils for one lucky reader.
Today is July 4th. I hope you are all doing something fun. My past few posts have featured all kinds of Americana. I promise to retire those little flags for a bit. They are just so fun to use in photos. Besides, the USA is great place & it is fun to celebrate it.
I knew I needed to serve some kind of carb or starchs with these kebabs but I didn’t know what. You see I just like steamed veggies or a big green salad with my protein. I guess I border on the Paleo Diet when it comes to that stuff.
For most folks some kind of carb is necessary.
As I gazed into my fridge I froze in excitement when the whole wheat hot dog buns stared back at me. A great vehicle to smear with my roasted pepper sauce. These kebabs slide easily into the folds of the bun. Now your meal can be hand held so you can walk around the yard. From stick to bun all is fun.
Those kebabs sure do look hot on the grill, huh! A rainbow of color.
For the gluten free folks, grab yourself a gluten free bun. Quinoa or rice would be a nice side too. Or, you can go caveman like me. The green salad is perfect. I tosses a few cherries in with the greens.
Isn’t that roasted pepper dip so pretty? It tastes amazing too. Smear it on a bun, dip your skewer in it or use it to dress a salad as I did.
I trimmed these white flowers from my front yard. It is so nice to be able to run outdoors to grab all kinds of pretties for my photo shoots. I told you all about my fresh herbs yesterday. The cherries are fun too. Those are from Trader Joe’s though.
The marinade for this chicken is simple. All you need is some olive oil, lemon juice and some spices. A half hour will do, a few hours to marinate even better.
What are your favorite kinds of kebabs? Do you have a special marinade you like to use?

Gorgeous kebabs and dip! Delightfully summery.
Cheers,

Not entering b/c I don’t have time to recipe input 🙂 but your 1st photo. It’s 100% Helene or Aran/Canelle Vanille…seriously Marla, your photography blows.my.mind.
You have come SO FAR!! Omg. It’s amazing. I was *just* cleaning out my pantry and found an old biz card of yours on it! You are wearing a sports bra and looking super happy and energetic. It was from a coach’s oats giveaway I won of yours, probably almost 2 yrs ago. Fun memories 🙂
Averie, isn’t that card sooooo funny! Amazing what can happen in 2 years. I must tell you that I still have some of those cards left & I hand them out with the disclaimer that vintage is “cool.” The second batch that were made a year later have the self portrait I did wearing the tiara and holding the wand and asparagus. Those are still being passed around and also need to be retired. I can’t stand to throw them out. It is my green/eco side 😉
Glad you like the photos. Happy to hear they make you happy!
Hi Marla- these kebabs look delicious! Your photos are lovely. I love the roasted pepper sauce you made. Happy 4th to you and your beautiful family! Baci from Italy:)
Lora, you are in Italy…..you lucky girl. Have a blast with that sweet family of yours 🙂 xo
I really don’t think I’ve seen prettier kebabs than these, Marla! Bet they’re super tasty, especially with that roasted pepper dip. The idea of serving them on hot dog buns is super cute — perfect for kiddies since it’s definitely easier for little hands to hold! Hope you and your family have a wonderful Independence Day!
Faith, those buns do make it a heck of a lot easier for the kids. Hope you and your hubs have a wonderful 4th too 🙂
they’re so evenly cut…perfect for cooking!
Heather, I think one of the true successes for the perfect kebabs are when the pieces are relatively uniform in size. Makes for pretty presentation & easy to eat. Also takes the guess work out of cook time.
Mmmm love the look of these! Your recipes always look so fresh and tasty. Yum!

My favorite kebab: Marinate chunks of chicken breast in Trader Joe’s soyaki sauce. Then place on skewers, alternating with chunks of pineapple. Happy 4th!
Miranda, those kebabs sound awesome. That sauce from TJ’s is one of our favorites too. The sweet pineapple is a nice touch. My kids would love that! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Absolutely stunning photos, Marla. That red pepper dip looks like a “must try”. I’ll bet it would be great on sandwiches, too. I’m looking forward to seeing the recipes that come rolling in for Get Grillin’ this week.
Dara, it is so good on sandwiches and as you had mentioned earlier-with a spoon! See you later this week in Utah. Can’t wait!
wow very pretty! Have a great 4th! See you next week!
Alison, can’t wait to see you in Utah for evo!! Yay 🙂
Such tasty look kebabs! So colorful and healthy.
Yum! These look so good. And your photography is amazing! Great pics.

I love your idea for “kabobs in a bun”. Great for the kids!
What a wonderful giveaway, thank you Marla!
These kebabs look so good! I don’t have any kebab recipes posted to share though.
I love these, they look awesome and they are also so good for you with lots of protein and vitamins. I have some skewers at home, I need to try this.
Hope you had a happy 4th of July.
*kisses* HH
Oh what a fab giveaway. Sorry I missed it…really am. Have added 2 kebab links to the linky. Love your post & pictures…really fresh and vibrant!
Hi Deeba, thanks so much for adding your fabulous kebab recipes to our link up.
Food on sticks is so much fun! Great idea putting them in hot dog buns. I just happen to have a pack in my freezer!
Oh my gosh, these kebabs look incredible Marla! Absolutely gorgeous photos! 🙂
Happy Kebab 4th Marla!
Kebabs are one of my favorite ways to eat protein, whether it’s chicken, steak or a firm fish!
These look great, Marla. A lot of my friends growing up were Persian so I grew up eating the traditional ground kebab with saffron and still make it all the time: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/aida-mollenkamp/persian-beef-kebabs-recipe/index.html
I love this! Two new ideas here for me: dipping sauce for kebabs and kebabs in hot dog buns. Both sound wonderful 🙂
included my kebabs lovely event and giveaway
Gorgeous photos Marla! They make everything look so appetising! Happy 4th of July to you and your family! 😀
What awesome photo’s hope you had a peaceful day!
I fixed these last night. They got rave reviews from the whole family (hubby and kids – 16, 11, 7) Thanks for posting such a delicious kebab recipe. The sauce was wonderful, too!
Hi Kit, you just made my day! I am so happy to hear that these kebabs were such a success with your whole family. Thanks so much for sharing that with me 🙂
I make kebabs once a week; they are fast, easy, healthy and delicious! I generally, do my veggies separate – however yours look oh-so pretty!
Marla, I love your photos… I really am drooling over every thing on here. Gorgeous!
I know I’m too late for the giveaway, but I love the kabob idea for sandwiches!
Beautiful photo’s Marla! And the kebabs look delicious! And I love the idea of putting the kebab in a sandwich. Brillant! We had kebabs this weekend for the 4th holiday. Made me realize I need to make them more often.
Hope you had a great 4th.
You know what Heather…..I don’t make kebabs nearly enough either & realize I should make them more often. So easy & I love having lots of leftovers. They taste even better the day after!
Marla – kebabs are so fun for the summer! Love the simple marinade for the chicken. I agree, kebabs are super versatile – I’m with you, I’d enjoy them on top of a green salad.
Thank you so much for the invite! Great blog 🙂
Love the pretty roasted red pepper dip!
