We Love Berries! July 4th Sweet Treats

July 4th in the Hamptons, NY

Here we are on the cusp of another long weekend. Friends can you tell me this….where is the time going? Around here it is buzzing by which is a good thing. I love to keep really busy and it means each day brings me closer to our summer trip to Telluride. I crave the cool mountain air, long hikes and “fishing” with my kids in the local pond. For now let’s think about goodies for the 4th of July, shall we?Β Remember my thing is to bring you sweet with health So do not hesitate for one minute to dig in.

Little kids in 4th of July Red, white and blue clothes

Yes, those are lollipops. Yes they are having a blast with them. The only thing that freaks me out about the passage of time is how quickly my kids are growing……my heart flutters at the thought.Β I couldn’t resist sharing these iPhone photos of them from the past few years.

We love berries here and they tie in perfectly the July 4th color palate. Today we have Red, White and Blue food folks.

Here is our summer home in East Hampton. Just kidding. It is someones summer home in East Hampton. Lucky ducks.

Here is my Very Blueberry Layer Cake that also happens to be gluten free.Β The great news it is perfectly suitable for dessert and breakfast too. Lucky us.

Ok, cherries aren’t berries but they sure do show off summer! A fun treat using sweet summer cherries is Cherry Applesauce Parfaits. Homemade applesauce and thick Greek yogurt, a great snack for anytime.
