Obsessed! What’s Gaby Cooking Guest Post

Gaby Dalkin Guest Post: Tailgating Football party recipes

You know when you meet someone who has just as much energy as you do & it is like the coolest thing ever?! That is my pal Gaby from the awesome blog What’s Gaby Cooking. Not only does she make the best guacamole known to humankind, but she is obsessed with living a fun, happy and fabulous life. We spend gobs of time together for reals and even tasted the best of New Orleans together in June. If my kids tried all her food I think they might want to go live with her…..maybe.

She calls herself the Simple, Sassy Gourmet for a good reason. Take it away my friend….

Hi Everyone! My name is Gaby – I’m the voice, recipe developer, photographer and stylist behind What’s Gaby Cooking and I’m so excited to be sharing and posting here today! I met Marla a few years ago and we’ve pretty much been inseparable since. I’ve never met anyone with such amazing energy in all aspects of life! Needless to say, she is awesome!

So here is a little bit about me…. I started in the food world about 3 1/2 years ago when I went to culinary school. Shortly after that I became a private chef in Malibu, CA and cooked for lots of fabulous people and celebrity clients. As a chef I am always obsessing over the best ingredients and am always looking for my next food adventure whether that be at my local farmers market or some country in South America where I get to explore a new food culture. Learning about different cuisines makes it easy for me to become obsessed with certain ingredients. Something usually strikes my fancy and then I’m all about it for a few weeks, creating dish after dish that features that item.

Today I’m sharing some of my obsession worthy tail-gating food since it’s Football season! Now while I may not be a huge football fan, I’m totally a fan of throwing a party with lots of great food for the football fans in my life! Here are some of my favorites…

What better way to start off a party than with salsa and a bag of tortilla chips?! You can spice this one up as much as you want, or keep it mild. Either way it’s a winner: Homemade Salsa

I’m an Arizona girl so cheese crisps are the perfect snack when in front of the TV. They take almost no time to make and are super delicious! Classic Cheese Crisps

I’m pretty much an avocado freak. I eat at least 1-2 avocados a day (usually in the form of guacamole) so it only makes sense that I throw in my favorite guacamole whenever having people over: Chipotle Guacamole

Sweet Potatoes are another obsession of mine. I like them mashed, roasted, BBQ’ed, you name it. This is one of my all time favorite ways to prepare a sweet potato: Sweet Potato Parmesan Chips

Is there anything more classic than a potato skin for a football or tailgating event? How about a potato skin stuffed with guacamole?! These are always a crowd pleaser: Game Day Potato Skins

For the lighter side of things, I like to make a hummus with flavor mix in’s I have on hand. One of my all time favorites is definitely this Roasted Red Pepper and Artichoke Hummus!

Irish Nachos are pretty much the way to any of my guy friends hearts. They go nuts when I make this twist on nachos and it’s always on the request list when I’m throwing a party.

Pulled Pork Sliders are GREAT for tailgating parties because you can literally throw it all into a slow cooker and call it a day. People can serve themselves as needed and kids love the little slider buns!

And to round things out, we’ve got to have a little sweet treat… how about these cute little football brownies. These brownies are decadent and delicious so they will go like hot cakes!
