Get Grillin’ 2011

Summer grill blogger event hosted by food blogs

Yay! I can finally announce this awesome summer event I am hosting with Dara from Cookin’ Canuck. Most of you probably all ready know Dara’s amazing blog and if you don’t hurry on over and check it out. We both love to grill and know lots of you do too. Now that Memorial Day is here it is time to roll up your sleeves, clean up that grill and Get Grillin’ outdoors. Let’s celebrate with an online party!

Don’t worry, we understand that some of you are city folk (Dara & I used to live in the Big Apple.) If you don’t have an outdoor grill we encourage you to take out that grill pan. Those things can work wonders if you have a hankering for grilled foods.

As long as you get some grill marks we call that Grillin’!

Check out some of our sponsors for this event. Each week we will include an awesome giveaway for one lucky participant.

How do you participate in Get Grillin’ 2011? Here are the guidelines:

Get Grillin’ recipe submissions will start on Monday, June 6th 2011. Here is a preview of what we have in store for you. This is a 6-week online grilling event. Share your favorite recipes with us, according to the week’s theme, for a chance to win some great prizes provided by our wonderful sponsors, Ile de France Cheese (delectable cheeses), Rösle (high-end European kitchen utensils and cookware) and Emile Henry (amazing bakeware) Rouxbe (brilliant online cooking school) and ManPans (fabulous eco-friendly cookware that we cannot live without!) There will be a chosen through winner each week.

Here are the themes and Sponsors:

Week 1 (June 6-12): Appetizers with Rouxbe
Week 2 (June 13-19): Side Dishes with Emile Henry
Week 3 (June 20-26): Entrees with Ile De France Cheese
Week 4 (June 27-July 3): Vegetarian
Week 5 (July 4-10): Kabobs
Week 6 (July 11-18): Desserts

1) Get busy grilling and post your recipe on your blog. For each week’s theme, you can enter up to 3 recipes. Each recipe post is counted as a separate entry for a chance to win a great prize from one of our sponsors. It is fine to use recipes that are previously posted on your blog, as long as you add the info in (3).

If you don’t have a blog, that’s okay. Just leave your recipe in the comments section of our themed post on any day of the theme week.

2) During the theme week, add the link to your grilling post to the widget on either or Cookin’ Canuck. You only need to add it on one site, but it will show up on both. Cool, huh? Dara and I will be post our themed post on the Monday of each week (for example, on June 6th, we will both post our appetizer recipes), so be sure to look on these posts for the recipe link widgets.

3) Somewhere in your post, please include the following. This is mandatory if you are submitting a blog post.

Get Grillin’ with and Cookin’ Canuck, sponsored by Ile de France Cheese, RösleEmile Henry, ManPans and Rouxbe.”

4) Do you want to help us spread the word on social media outlets such as Twitter and Facebook? Here is a sample tweet that you can cut and paste:

  1. I love that you and Dara have teamed up. What an awesome event and I know it will be super successful!

Me…not participating. In one of our many moves (ahem, 10 in 10 years) we donated our grill and now living urban San Diego with no place to even put one, no grill and I dont have an indoor grill either. Does a microwave count? 🙂

I am going to tweet this now for you!

    1. Averie, you can “grill” in theory. Once we start with those grilled recipes I bet you can pull something out of the archives. Perhaps a side salad when we do side dishes? Or veggies. I know you have loads of amazing desserts at the ready too! We gotta get you a grill pan, now that you have been adding some heat to that great cooking. xo

    1. Dara, I can’t wait to see what you and our blog buddies come up with! Fun to finally have launched our fun project 🙂

    1. No worries we will get you over to the party no matter what it takes! Even if you have something in your archives that could be grilled. Bring it. Got sides, desserts, etc that work well at a BBQ? We like that too! It’s all about sharing recipes & having a great time!

  2. A cook’in Canuck! Does this mean she is canadaian?
Happy memorial day to you! Perfect post for the holiday weekend!
Sounds like a blast! Can’t wait to check it out

    1. Angie, yes Dara is like you – a true Canuck! Love you both. Think we can get you to submit your favorite recipe? Even if you say “ribs with sauce” your in! Will miss you guys today. En route home from T-ride. My folks are ready for a break!

    1. Nothing stops us from firing up the grill! How cool that you are heading into winter in Sydney. Perhaps you can share some regional flavors with us.

  3. SO loving the idea! As soon as I get into my new house and open that grill up I am joining you gorgeous ladies for the event. Such a bummer I’ll have to skip the first week but will see you around and hopefully join you soon!

    1. Yay Prerna! We look forward to you joining us. I bet we can find something from your archives that could vaguely be considered a BBQ appetizer. That naan bread you made could be baked on a grill….ya think?!
Best of luck with your move. I bet you can’t wait to be settled in your new home.

    1. Hi Lori, so glad you stopped by! You and me both are always in for a great party 🙂 If only we could go on another Pork Crawl. That was so fun. Speaking of parties when am I gonna see you next??

    1. Thanks Lindsey, Dara is such a great friend and I am happy to throw this virtual grill party with her. I hope you can contribute some of your excellent recipes. Love your blog re-design.

    1. Joanne, those George Forman grills are awesome – especially when you live in the city. I can only imagine the magic you grill up on that thing. We’ll have our eyes peeled for your creations! xo

  4. Awesome! This is the event you talking about 🙂 I love Dara and your work so thrilled to see you guys together. The recipe you were asking about is unfortunately deep fried leaves 🙁 so I guess it can’t make it. I certainly got kabob for you 😀 so will be sending something at the time. Best of luck!

    1. Kulsum, any appetizer recipe that you would bring to a party will fit perfectly into our line up. It does not have to be grilled.
We would love for you to link up those deep fried leaves. Looking forward to that kebab recipe too.
