Baked Sweets and Treats

Magic Cookie Bars

Hi guys! I’m thinking since you made it to the middle of the week it’s time for some sugary treats! Have you ever had Magic Cookie Bars? (Also known as Seven Layer Bars) My mom used to make them all the time when my brother and I were kids. I remember coming home from school & diving into a freshly baked pan of chocolate bliss. I wanted to re-create the same sweet experience for my kids, so that’s what I did with these!

What’s all the Magic about? What are the seven layers? Great question! You can do pretty much what you want. For instance I omitted the traditional nuts in this recipe, because my son hates them. Instead I added a layer of mini marshmallows and toffee pieces. Heck, if you are all ready going super, sticky sweet then why not add more sticky & sugar, right?!

Here’s my 7 layers (starting from the bottom up)

  1. graham cracker crumbs
  2. sweetened condensed milk
  3. white chocolate
  4. marshmallows
  5. toffee pieces
  6. coconut
  7. milk chocolate

Now are you ready to bake? Enjoy!

  1. The recipe my family has always used-a Nestle recipe, I believe- doesn’t call for marshmallows…It is one of my all-time favorite recipes. Mmm.
