Caribbean & enjoying all the sights & flavors. I made sure to play with lots of new recipes before I left so you could have new things to taste! This flavor-packed, superfood-filled Matcha Chia Smoothie is perfect for busy mornings and great for pre & post workout snacks! I was never on the chia kick until I had the opportunity to review Mamma Chia’s ~ The Chia Cookbook….I tested this Chia-Berry Shake from the book. Now I’m completely obsessed with chia seeds. Have you ever tried Matcha powder? It’s a fine ground green tea with an absolutely lovely flavor! Matcha is a favorite of mine, especially in the chillier months of the year, I create all kinds of recipes with it. You can purchase Matcha powder at most natural grocers or you can order it online. You can use white or black chia seeds in this shake. First I soaked the chia seeds for 20 minutes in white grape juice. I always have frozen bananas handy for smoothies like this, this way I don’t need to add any ice. Into my blender went 2 of those frozen bananas, the juice soaked chia seeds, milk, Matcha powder, vanilla extract & some freshly squeezed lemon juice. Pour into two glasses & top with whipped cream for an extra treat! Of course, I always take that option. Enjoy your smoothies & your weekend! xo Here are a few beach photos from Cozumel, Mexico… Click HERE for recipe details. Matcha Recipes to Check Out!

Marla, I love smoothies and try to use chia seeds in just about everything I can, but haven’t tried matcha in a smoothie yet. Looks like the perfect after-workout snack! Beautiful pics and lovely Alice glasses:)
Thanks for sharing! I love matcha powder used to make tea, but also like trying it out in other food creations, especially smoothies. My current go to is chocolate matcha smoothie, but now I’m keen to try this one!
