I’m a stickler for excellent, trustworthy beauty and skincare products. After years of testing the best of the best (and yes, many poor choices) I’ve come to love on many products, ones that really work. There’s are many great reasons why these have gotten high marks all over the web. One of the latest collections for me to test out is Thrive Causmetics. I LOVE their products and have listed a few of them in this post. Friends of MM will receive $10 off their first purchase of $50 or more (plus free shipping!) just use this link and fill your cart. It’s that simple!
Here are my favorites and be sure to watch the video too!
My kids always ask me for something sweet and chocolatey. We are all obsessed with brownies over here & I wanted to bake something really simple and crazy delicious for them. This Skillet Brownie with Maple Whipped Cream comes together really quickly and the cast iron skillet gives it a nice oven to table rustic look. Top with homemade Maple Whipped Cream and all is right in the world!
I use a 10 inch cast iron skillet for this recipe. My favorite one is super inexpensive (only $12.60 with Amazon Prime) and will last you a lifetime and beyond. Buy yours right here.
I absolutely love everything about July 4th. There is so much anticipation already building here in Telluride, CO. Our 4th is an awesome display of everything Americana, from the hometown parade to an epic display of fireworks over the mountain tops. I always love to dress in theme from head to toe. Here are some favorites in red, white and blue. If you plan on spending lots of time outdoors don’t forget that sunhat and plenty of sunscreen.
Whenever I visit Santa, New Mexico I always stop at The Teahouse on Canyon Road for lunch or a mid day snack. There are so many wonderful drink and food choices on the menu, but without fail I always get the New England Iced Coffee. A cold brew sweetened with pure maple syrup and made rich and extra delicious with half and half. I make mine even more decadent with a scoop of freshly whipped maple cream.
Berries! We can’t get enough of them in our home. Easy to enjoy out of hand and wonderful in sweet and savory recipes too. We make these strawberry recipes time and time again. I know you will enjoy them too!
Summer Essential: The Best Sunscreens for Face, Lips and Body
Sunscreen has come so far in the past decade. The product selection is vast and you can easily avoid that goopy feel that was the norm years ago. When I was growing up there were so few choices and they all made me feel gross and miserable. The great thing is that now, there is an SPF for all. Here are my all time favorites based on ingredients, overall feel and body parts. I like to use different products on my face, lips and body. Remember to reapply your sunscreen no matter what you are doing often. Dermatologists say to reapply every two hours and way more if you are in the water or sweating. For athletics and swimming be sure to use water resistant formulas.
I always have lots of sunscreens available for any given time. There is some in my golf locker, in my purse, pool tote and lots in my medicine cabinet. I don’t tend to stick to one brand, I like to mix things up. I do have my favorites I’ve had great luck with all of these time and time again.
Suncreens for the Face
When it comes to sunscreen for the face you can go with tinted or untinted formulas. If I’m going to an event I might use the tinted as a foundation, but typically I stick to the clear formulas. I like to use products that leave a matte finish so I can apply other makeup over it.
Sunscreen Powders for Face
Set your makeup and apply your sunscreen at the same time with these brush on powders. Easy to keep in your purse for touch ups throughout the day.
Sunscreens for the Lips
Don’t forget those smackers! Keeping your lips looking lush, plump and beautiful is most important. Here are some fabulous sun sticks to choose from. While we are on the subject of lips, also check out my favorite picks for lip plumpers and glosses (non SPF)
Sunscreens for the body
Many people forget that they need to take care of their body when outdoors as much as they do their face. These sunscreens will protect and help nourish your skin, many have antioxidants and other beneficial skin ingredients. They feel great too!
July 4th is my favorite holiday..from the celebratory parade here in Telluride, CO. to the fireworks and all the parties that come along with it. I can’t even count how many events I go to both day and night on the 4th. There is one thing that’s for certain, this Americana No-Bake Cheesecake will be in attendance too. This takes a small effort to throw together, the only thing you have to be patient about is the chill time. I recommend you leave it overnight in the fridge for the best results. You can make this up to two days ahead.

I’ve been a fan of hats for years, I love the way they look, and most importantly they help shield your face from the sun. There are so many great styles out there…something to suit your personal style no matter what looks you love. My hat collection is huge, I have hats all colors, brim sizes and materials for all seasons. A fabulous hat can add so much to any outfit no matter what the occasion.
For a summer hat, it’s good to have a larger brim and there are many styles out there with SPF built in too. That’s an added bonus and something important to consider. Another thing to consider is if you need a packable hat for travel. It’s so convenient to bring a few choices when you travel, and you can easily do this with hats you can roll and pack.
Here are some of my favorites that you can have at your doorstep in no time at all!
